چکیده

DURING the past decade, there has been enormous interest in the use of invasive electrophysiologic testing to evaluate patients with cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disturbances. In this editorial, we present our views on the clinical value of this procedure, ever mindful of our own biases and the knowledge that many important issues in this rapidly expanding area of cardiology remain controversial. The important contributions of invasive testing to the understanding of mechanisms of arrhythmia and drug actions remain unchallenged. Our focus is on the clinical applicability of electrophysiologic testing. Electrophysiologic testing is used to evaluate sinus node function, atrioventricular (AV) conduction and tachyarrhythmias. The number of electrode catheters inserted depends on the nature of the study. In general, at least two catheters are required. However, for more detailed studies, up to five intracardiac catheters may be necessary. In selected patients, left ventricular stimulation may be necessary for proper evaluation.

Field effect transistor nanobiosensors: State-of-the-art and key challenges as point of care testing devices

The existing health care systems focus on treating diseases rather than preventing them. Patients are generally not tested unless physiological symptoms are appeared. When they do get tested, the results often take several days and can be inconclusive if the disease is at an early stage. In order to facilitate the diagnostics process and make tests more readily available for patients, the conce...

Cord Blood Karyotyping: A Safe and Non-Invasive Method for Postnatal Testing of Assisted Reproductive Technology Children

Objective To verify the hypothesis that the incidence of chromosomal abnormalities increases in babies conceived by different assisted reproduction procedures. The availability of the umbilical cord blood encouraged us to study this hypothesis via this method. MaterialsAndMethods This is a descriptive study, umbilical cord blood samples of assisted reproductive technology (ART) children were an...

Investigation of Swirling and Tumbling Flow Pattern of Spark Ignition Engine

Gas motion within the cylinder is one of the major factors that control the combustion process in spark ignition engine. It also has significant impact on heat transfer. Both the bulk gas motion and the turbulence characteristics of the flow are important and governing the overall behavior of the flow. An arrangement for obtaining a stratified charge, using port injection, is proposed for a ...
